A ::
ALMA: The final song performed by each team at The Sing. The song has original lyrics set to a well known song. It expresses the feelings campers have about camp and the friendships they’ve made.
APACHE:
A giant relay race that is one of the largest
events in the Blue and White competition.
Every camper will get the opportunity to
participate in one station of an apache
during the summer. There are 4 apaches,
one for each division and YES, one for the
counselors!
APACHE LEADERS:
1 staff member, 2 Juniper
girls, and 1 Robinson
girl on each team (blue and white), who
help to organize the apaches and get their
teams spirited.

B ::
BALLOON
LADY: If you have a summer birthday,
you just may be surprised during a meal
with a fun character and some balloons to
help you celebrate.
BANQUET:
A celebration on the last night of camp
where everyone dresses in white for a themed
dinner inside the dining hall. Awards for
different activities are given out along
with recognition for how many years campers
have been at Robindel (5 years and up).
BEACH DAY: Occurs when the temperature gets really warm and regular activities are cancelled. All campers head to the beach for swimming, sailing, water skiing and other beach activities.
BIRCH ROCK: A large rock in front of Birch (a
cabin for 10 year old campers), which makes
a great place to sit with friends and enjoy
the beautiful lake and scenery. Campfires
are held here each Sunday.
BLESSING: Recited
before every meal by different bunks: "Oh
the Lord is good to me, and so I thank the
Lord, for giving me the things I need, the
sun and the rain and the appleseed, the
Lord is good to me".
BLUE & WHITE ROOMS: Rooms where
the blue and white teams work hard creating
props and costumes for the Sing. They are
located directly below the Rec Hall facing
the lake.
BOUNTY: A
social involving about 15 New England camps
held in a bowling alley.
BREAKOUT: The start of Colorwar.
This is when you find out if you are on
the blue or white team.
BROTHER/SISTER
VISITING: Each Sunday, campers who
have brothers or cousins at Winaukee either
are visited at Robindel or go to Winaukee
to visit.
BUFFALO BOB: The head of our tennis department.
BUGLE: The traditional sounding of horns that signify
times to wake up, go to meals, and begin
and end all activity periods.
BUNK AUNT: You make up a definition. It is the
same as a Bunk Uncle,
except it is a female staff member who does
not live in a cabin with campers.
BUNK CHEERS: Throughout the summer campers create cheers
together to represent their bunks. They
are recited during activities and in the
dining hall.
BUNK PLAQUES: At the end of each summer, each bunk designs
a plaque with their names on it to be placed
inside their bunk.
BUNK
UNCLE: A male staff member who is
assigned a cabin to be an "Uncle"
to. They eat meals, go on trip days, and
participate in other activities with their
"nieces".

C ::
CAMP
SISTER: All new campers and all Junior
campers are assigned 2 or 3 camp sisters,
who act as "surrogate" sisters
for the summer. The relationship is made
in the springtime so that every girl arrives
at camp knowing at least 2 other campers.
CAMPFIRE: A
Sunday night tradition involving the entire
camp signifying the end of that weeks blue
and white activities and another week at
Robindel.
CANADA: All Juniper campers and
counselors get to take an overnight trip
here for 5 days to visit the cities of Montreal
and Quebec City.
CANTEEN: Bring a letter that you
have written to the canteen, and Ann (or
one of her helpers) will give you a snack
of your choice.
CAPTAIN/CO-CAPTAIN:
2 counselors, 1 Juniper
girl and 1 Robinson
girl, who help to lead their colorwar team
in activities and the sing.
CARNIVAL:
An all-camp activity held once during the
summer. It is known for it's many attractions
such as ski boat rides, the jail, and the
dunk tank where Juniper girls get soaked
as the younger campers try to dunk them.
CHEERING: An
activity that all girls from the Blue and
White teams participate in every Sunday
morning before colorwar begins and after
lunch. Members of each team are encouraged
to cheer to get pumped up for the day of
games ahead.
CLINIC: Held after breakfast &
dinner in the infirmary with the doctor.
In cases of emergencies, the medical staff
is always available.
COLOR GUARD: Four campers that raise the flag before reveille and lower it before dinner.
COLORWAR:
Every camper and staff member is
on either the Blue or White team. Sundays
are colorwar days, when you participate
in activities and try to gain points for
your team.
CONDOS: The
set of cabins on the beach in between Feldman
and the Small Craft area.
CRYSTAL PALACE: Camp weather forecast office. Run by program office officals and on site junior weatherperson.

D ::
DUTCH
AUCTION: A special evening event
that you have to see to believe! It’s
a scavenger hunt, but you don’t get
the list until you’ve already collected
everything.

E ::
ELECTIVES:
Periods where campers choose their own activity
on their schedule. Juniors have one elective
(6th period) and Inters have 2 (3rd and
6th period). Campers sign up for their electives
daily at the tagboard.
ELMED/MAPLED: A phrase used to describe a camper who has transitioned from Junior Camp to Inter Camp. Elm and Maple are the first bunks in Inter Camp.
ESCORTS: Counselors who travel with
campers to and from camp at the beginning
and end of camp on the buses, planes, vans,
etc.
EVENING ACTIVITY: A fun activity that occurs after dinner.
Some are all-camp activities and some are
divided by age group.

FAKEOUT:
A fake "breakout"
of colorwar. You never know when the real
one will take place...
FLATS: The background scenery for the entrance in The Sing. Designed and painted by the Juniper girls based on their team's theme.
FLASHLIGHT
TIME: A time after lights go out
when campers can use their flashlights for
reading, letter writing, etc.
FUNSPOT: A fun place in Center Harbor
where campers can win trips to. It has arcades,
mini golf and go carts.

G ::
GARY:
The head chef at camp who has been
with us since 1960! Campers think he is
amazing and he prepares delicious meals.
GENEVA POINTE: The ice cream shop
down the road from camp.
GIANT SWING: A part of the ropes department that is located near the lodge porch. Ane camper gets attached to a rope while others pull on the rope lifting her higher in the air. The camper is released and swung back and forth through the air.
GOLD RUSH: A favorite all-camp evening activity.
Each bunk tries to collect the most points
by finding counselors, juniper campers,
and tennis balls. Each counselor is worth
100 pts. for each year at Robindel. The
tennis balls are worth 50-500pts.
GO GO MONKEY: The monkey that gives you the balloons on your birthday. Will work for bananas.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SONG: Dear ______ our hearts to you, our hands to you. Dear ______ our hearts and hands to you. Kings and Queens and Bishops too, wanna wish the best to you. So wish day, wash day, what do you say, birthday! Happy Birthday to you.
HEAD
CABIN: The small cabin in the center
of camp is the office of our Staff Coordinators
and the headquarters of Blue and White.
This is also where night patrol and staff
information can be found.
HIGHLAND LINKS:
A local golf course where Robindel Girls
can play golf every Tuesday.
HONOR BUNK: Every Sunday, the cleanest
bunks in camp are awarded this. If your
bunk wins honor bunk enough times, you'll
get to go out of camp for an ice cream treat!

I ::
INFIRMARY:
The nurses office at camp. They administer
medications for campers and counselors.
At breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the nurses
sit on the lodge porch for people that need
their meds at that time. For those who need
their meds at bedtime, you go to the infirmary
to take it.
INSPECTION:
Following morning clean up, each bunk is
inspected with the use of a scoring system.
INTERCAMP:
Competition in various activities held with
other camps throughout New Hampshire and
Maine.
INTERMEDIATES:
"Inters" are campers that have
completed 5th and 6th grades. They live
in Elm, Maple, Redwood, Cypress, and Sequoia.

JB
SCOOPS : An ice cream shop up the
road from camp. The winning honor bunk gets
to go here.
JI, KI, MI: John Immerman, our Program
Coordinator. Kathy Immerman, the unit leader
for our youngest campers. Michael Immerman
(their son), John's assistant, and an honorary
member of the maintenance staff.
JoJos:
Our favorite country store! It also happens
to be only 2 miles from camp. They are famous
for their chocolate cookies and sub sandwiches.
JUNIORS: The
youngest campers that have completed 2nd,
3rd and 4th grade. They live in Hemlock,
Knotty Pine, Poplar, Spruce and Birch.
JUNIPER:
The bunk for our 15 year old campers, the
oldest in camp. They act as leaders of various
activities throughout the summer, including
Colorwar.

KELLERHAUS:
A build your own sundae shop that
is a favorite prize among campers and counselors
alike.

LAS
VEGAS NIGHT: An all-camp evening
activity with everyone's favorite Las Vegas
games.
LIFEGUARDING: The girls in the oldest
bunk can wake up early every morning to
practice and train so they can become certified.
LODGE: The
original building at Camp Robindel. Many
key staff live in the upstairs rooms. The
downstairs is used for canteen, and sometimes,
for bunk meetings with Ann.
LODGE
PORCH: A porch surrounding the Lodge
with a view of the lake. Chairs are set
up here so campers can relax during free
time. Free times include before lunch and
dinner, and before evening activities.

MOTOR
ABILITY: The activities of the second
day of camp, used to determine if you will
be on the Blue or White team.

O ::
OD:
"On-Duty" Once per week, there
is an all staff meeting. While the staff
are at the meeting, the Juniper
girls are assigned to be On-Duty in
all cabins throughout the camp. During this
time, the nurses and unit leaders are all
on call, should their assistance be needed.

R ::
REC
HALL: A 7,000 square foot recreation
hall used for gymnastics, drama,
movies, rainy day activities, evening activities and The Sing.
RED TEAM:
A carefully selected group of staff members
who serve as the judges for Blue & White
activities.
REST HOUR:
A time when all campers have an hour to
reflect on the morning. Rest hour occurs
after lunch and it is a popular time for
girls to play jacks and write letters.
REVEILLE: The bugle call that wakes
the camp up in the morning (and all of our
neighbors).
ROBINDEL: The camp name is a combination of the names of the camp founders the Robinsons and the Feldman’s. Adele was the wife of Paddy Feldman… thus Robindel.
ROBINDEL BEAT: A clapping and snapping cheer done by the
entire camp. Usually the first cheer taught
to new campers.
ROBINSON:
The second-oldest bunk in the camp
for our 14 year old girls. Named after Eli
& Fanny Robinson, the original founders
of Camp Robindel.
ROTATION: The
order in which counselors go up to the kitchen
to get food for their bunk at a meal.

S ::
SENIORS:
The oldest campers who have finished
7th, 8th and 9th grade. They live in Feldman,
Robinson, and Juniper.
SENIOR RETREAT:
A room for senior campers (the 3
oldest bunks) to use during their free time
at camp. It has a ping-pong, a TV and a
DVD player in it.
SENIOR SIGN
UP: The schedules for senior campers.
As you get older, you get more freedom in
selecting which activities you would like
to attend during the week.
SHOWER HOUR:
When everyone returns to their bunks
to take showers before dinner.
SING:
All campers and staff are involved in this
grand finale of blue & white. Each team
performs a thematic show using all of their
team members to illustrate what camp has
meant to their team. Songs include: a march,
several tunes, an alma mater, and a comic
song.
SING PLAQUE:
A plaque created at the end of the summer
which is hung on the wall in the dining
hall. It includes all captain and co-captain
names and figures from the Blue and White
themes.
SING PRACTICE: A time when all campers
and counselors learn their entrance and
their songs for the The
Sing: March, 1st Tune, 2nd Tune, 3rd
Tune, 4th Tune, Comic and Alama.
SKI SHOW:
One of the last days of camp, where campers
perform their progress in the waterskiing
program.
SMALL CRAFTS:
Waterfront activities that include sailing,
canoeing, kayaking, and windsurfing.
SOCIALS:
Campers 11 years of age and older have an
evening gathering with various boys camps
from the area.
SONGLEADER:
1 Juniper girl, 1
Robinson girl who
lead the Blue and White teams in practicing
and performing songs for the sing.
SPIRIT AWARD:
An award given to one girl from each age
group every Sunday for their dedication
and sportsmanship to their Blue or White
team.
STAFF TALENT SHOW: One of the first
evening activities of the summer, where
counselors from each department do a skit
about the activity they teach.
SURFCOASTER USA: A local waterpark
known for it's amazing water attractions.
Campers have been known to love the slides
Thunder and Lightning, these are two high
speed slides where you can race your friends
to the bottom.

TABLE
CHEER: A boisterous cheer led by
the Juniper girls
in the dining hall where they yell out each
cabin, then the other campers scream and
bang on the tables when their cabin is called.
TAGBOARD:
Junior and Intermediate campers use
the board to select their elective activities
for the day.
TAPS:
The bugle call that signals that it is 9:00p.m.
and time for the youngest campers to be
in bed.
TATOO:
The bugle call that signals the end of the
day and a time for reflection on the passing
day.
TECUMSAH:
An all-boys camp located across from Robindel
on the lake. Campers at Robindel have socials
with them.
TENNIS LADDER:
A series of tennis matches throughout
the summer that campers can sign up to be
part of.
THEMES: The story that the Blue and
White teams act out for The
Sing. All of the songs in The Sing are
based on these themes.
TOMAHAWK: A member of the male staff,
who helps as a colorwar leader.
TRACK &
FIELD DAY: The Sunday after visiting
day when Blue and White teams compete
in running races around the track at the
flag field.
TRIP DAY: 4 Wednesdays during the
summer, when all bunks go out of camp to
amusement parks, water parks, and sometimes
even dinner and movies.
TURKEY DINNER:
Every Sunday, after a long day of
blue and white activities turkey is served
with mashed potatoes and vegetables. It
is a peaceful dinner with no cheering.

U ::
UNIQUE:
A traditional camp evening activity. Campers
are spilt into four teams (blue, yellow,
green & red) to compete in an interactive
trivia game. The team with the highest score
wins.
UNIT LEADER:
A counselor who is the head of each age
group of campers.

V ::
VISITING
DAY: Occurs halfway through the summer
when families are allowed to come visit
camp for a day. Families follow thier kids
around for a whole day going to many different
activities with their children.

W ::
WINAUKEE:
Winaukee is Robindel's brother camp. It
is located right down the road from Robindel.
Every Saturday night, older girls have socials
with these campers. (See also Brother/Sister
Visiting and Socials)
WINNIPESAUKEE:
The lake that Robindel is situated on -
the largest lake in New England. It is very
clean and it doesn't get as cold as other
lakes.

LINE: A ropes activity where two
campers climb up a tree, attach themselves
to a cable, and swing down into the lake
together.
