How do I get to camp?
Staff coming from the USA:
Once you are hired, we will ask you to fill out a few forms including a Travel Form. Your mode of transportation will depend on your location. If you choose to drive, we may ask you to pick up others on your way. Robindel will reimburse you for your travel expenses to and from camp. If you are not driving to camp, we will book a bus, train or plane ticket for you and we will pick you up from the airport or bus station. Be sure to check your email often once you are hired! Each staff member will be sent specific travel instructions.
You will fly into Boston-Logan Airport and we will work with you to coordinate transportation to camp. We will either pick you up or provide you with instructions for taking a bus towards camp. Be sure to check your email often once you are hired! Each staff member will be sent specific travel instructions.
What is the weather like in New Hampshire?
As Nat always says, “If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes!” Yes, the weather changes quite a bit here. We have mostly sunny and warm days and cool evenings. Staff orientation days in June can be a bit cool, so we recommend a sweater. Definitely remember to pack a rain jacket too!
Is there Internet access at camp?
Yes. We have free wireless access available to you during your time off.
Will my cell phone work at camp?
Yes. Most people find that they get pretty good cell signal at camp.
How do I get paid while at camp?
We will issue you a pay card, which is basically like an ATM card. We load your money onto it three times during the summer.
Will I get time off?
Yes! All staff are off 3 nights per week, beginning at 6pm. There is a 1am curfew for the safety of all. Trust us, you will need your sleep!
All staff who live with campers also get one activity period (1 hour) off each day. In addition, if you are on-duty at night, you will be off-duty during rest hour.
What about days off?
You will get 6 days off during the summer, including 1 day during staff orientation when all staff get the day off together.
(Please note that due to the nature of the work, Support Staff schedules are slightly different. Please contact us should you have any questions.)
What is there to do during my time off?
Plenty! For your short breaks during the day we have a counselor retreat that has a television and DVD player, games, and a place to relax. There is also a staff exercise room with a treadmill, basic weights, etc. Many staff enjoy going for walks or jogs on the path just outside of camp, doing laundry, talking with friends and family at home, or taking a nap.
You are free to use many of the camp facilities that are not being used by campers. For example: kayaks, paddle boards, and sports equipment.
On your nights off you may enjoy going to a local restaurant, movie theatre or ice cream shop. There is also a large outlet mall not too far away.
When you have a day or weekend off, there is so much to see and explore. You can go camping and hiking in the White Mountains. You can go eat Lobster at the Maine coast, head down to Boston for a Red Sox game, go to the beach, or even up to Montreal or down to New York!
What do I wear?
We will supply you with one navy and one white CR T-shirt. We ask that you wear navy or white tops and neutral colored (white, navy, khaki, gray) bottoms. You can order staff clothing before coming to camp and it will be available for you to pick up when you arrive. We have t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, hats, shorts, water bottles and more!
There are special event days when we encourage you to dress up. Some examples are: Blue & White Sundays, 4th of July, Hawaiian Dinner & Halloween!
